This week we have been exposed to yet another example of why it was really bad to elect Barack Houssein Obama as the 44th President of the United States. Obama has been well known for his brazen manner of getting things done,ramming health care down the throats of Americans,forcing through stimulus bills to nowhere,snubbing the Israeli Prime Minister,the list goes on. Why should this week be any different?
The thunderous applause for the President’s speech at the UN,because he mustered up some support for Israel,was deafening. Not surprising. Here in the United States a majority of the populace was suckered into voting Obama into our highest office. Could it now be that Americans have been deluded into believing that the President is newly converted to being a pro-Zionist? Of course,the cult-like following Obama has enjoyed could be swindled again. Is the President genuinely behind Israel,supporting Her very right to exist and live in security? Not on your life,or more accurately,not on Israel’s life. Only the simple of mind would believe that this rigid ideologue would have such a far sweeping conversion.
But,you say:Obama said in his speech “America’s commitment to Israel’s security is unshakeable,”and “Our friendship with Israel is deep and enduring.”Yes,he said those things,but he does not mean them. Let’s not forget who we are talking about;this is the same man who has done more to damage the relations between Israel and the US than ten presidents before him,in less than three years. This man has a deeply rooted hatred for the Jewish Nation,perhaps a product of his Islamic upbringing. Though Mr. Obama mouthed a few strong words in Israel’s favor at the United Nations,less than 17% of his speech was dedicated to this monumental subject. And some of that was spent talking about Ireland. To be clear,some of that was also in support of the pLO.
I do give a small amount of credit to the President,he has promised to veto any bid for unilateral so-called “palestinian”statehood that comes before the Security Council. But,then again,this is not yet a promise fulfilled;so lets not count our chickens too early.
What we saw this week at the United Nations was one face of President Obama. What the Israelis saw just prior to this speech was the other,and perhaps more genuine,face of Obama. It is now being revealed by high level Members of Kenesset that leading up to the events at the UN this week President Obama pressured Prime Minister Netanyahu to lobby Congressional leaders not to pursue their bills to de-fund the so-called “palestinians”if they submitted their bid for unilateral statehood. It is also being reported that Obama did not stop there,he also pushed for Bibi to halt construction in the Homesteads,again. This is the face we have seen more consistently from our Dear Leader. This is the face we have seen repeatedly from the man our country elected into high office. This is,indeed,the genuine face of Barack Houssein Obama.
The Prime Minister was told that if he did not pressure Congressional leaders to back off from their threat to de-fund the pLO for breaking the Oslo Accords,that the Administration might not veto the vote for statehood when it comes before the Security Council. This is nothing short of extortion,blackmailing the Israeli Prime Minister to act in contradiction to the best interest of Israel. And,this is only the first time this will be done. Now,every time Obama wants Bibi to jump through some kind of hoop,all he has to do is to threaten to push the vote through the UN,causing all sorts of difficulties for Israel. Not that this proposed declaration of statehood will actually create a new Arab state,but it will significantly complicate the process of making any genuine peace with Israel’s sworn enemy,the pLO.
It was Mr. Obama that gave impetus to the pLO to make such a bold move at the UN to begin with. Prior to Mr. Obama throwing the full weight of American foreign policy behind the pLO Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas’s real name) was dwindling in popular support in the Arab-occupied areas of Judea and Samaria,so much so that for many years he has refused to hold legally mandated elections for his office,and for his so-called parliament. Abu is currently illegally occupying the office he holds. Hamas,which wrested control of Gaza from Abu Mazen after the last elections,has tried to kill Abu,to gain total control of the areas occupied by the pLO. Last September,in the General Assembly of the UN,Mr. Obama laid out a timeframe of one year for Israel to fully capitulate to the demands of their enemies,and turn over all of Judea and Samaria for the creation of the newest hostile Arab State in the biblical Heartland of Israel. It was this immature move on our President’s part that has given Abu the idea that he can do anything he wants,and he will still get the support of the American Administration. The sad part is,as Obama has proven,Abu is deadly accurate in his thinking. During the past year Bibi has made far reaching concessions trying to persuade a reluctant and emboldened Abu Mazen to negotiate with him,going so far as to stop any Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria for ten months. To no avail. Abu has absolutely no incentive to negotiate anything with Israel,he knows that the American President will continue to push Netanyahu off the cliff to get him to surrender to the pLO’s demands.
This bid for unilateral statehood by the pLO is in direct opposition to the agreements made in the Oslo Accords. The pLo was bound by the agreement to negotiate a lasting peace with the Jewish State. This move to step outside of the framework of the Oslo Accords has broken their contract. At this point the Nations that support the governmental entity created by the accords should now cease funding it. This is the only incentive that will have any hope of bringing the pLO back to the negotiating table with Israel. Israel collects taxes for goods entering the Arab-occupied territories,they should stop turning over these vast sums of money to the pLO until they come to their senses and repent of their unilateral actions. The United States Congress should immediately halt all funding,and any US aid,to the pLO until they decide to negotiate,in good faith,with their Jewish neighbors,Israel.
The US Congress swiftly moving to de-fund the pLO would serve a secondary purpose of correcting the miscreant attitude of our President,hopefully causing him to drop his aggressive face toward Israel. Americans who support Israel have been frustrated,they need for some sort of control to be placed on the President. The Legislative Branch of our government was designed to do that very thing. It is high time that members of Congress do more than write letters to our Dear Leader,they need to pass legislation that will box in the Executive Branch,bringing it more in line with the will of the people. Americans are,by and large,supportive of Israel,far more so than the present Administration. The proper means for the will of the American people to be upheld when the President is out of line,as is the case with Mr. Obama,is for Congress to force his hand by controlling the funding for his policies. Now is the time. Write your Congressional Leaders today.
