President Barack Obama’s recent call for “land swaps” ignores overwhelming bipartisan sentiment since 1995 that reaffirms Jerusalem must remain the undivided Capital of Israel. His surprise remarks,issued as Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the U.S. in May 2011,set the stage for putting historic Jerusalem up for grabs during “negotiations” on “permanent-status issues” between Israel and the Arab “palestinians.
Alarms should be sounding throughout our Judeo-Christian nation. The statement,reflective of the president’s strong pro-Arab bias,should give rise to a collective determined effort by American Bible believers from all walks to step into the front lines of the battle to keep G-d’s Holy City in the hands of its rightful stewards.
Today,Jerusalem Day,is an excellent time to celebrate the miracle that G-d Performed when He Returned control of this ancient City to the Jewish People. It is also a good time to arm ourselves with historical reality so that we will be in season as the battle over Jerusalem begins to take center stage.
Jerusalem was liberated from its Jordanian occupiers during the Six-Day War in 1967. During that war,Egypt broke a cease-fire agreement by amassing troops and aircraft in the Sinai and closing the Tiran Straits to Israeli shipping – an act of war. The Israel Defense Forces executed a radar-ducking,lighting-fast,precision pre-emptive strike against Egypt’s airfields,and then fought on several fronts against Syria and Jordan,the latter which ignored Israel’s urging to stay out of the war. The Arab-Muslim bloc lost to Israel the Egyptian-occupied Sinai and Gaza Strip;the Syrian-occupied Levitical City of Refuge,the Golan Heights;and the “palestinian”Arab-occupied Biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria,which included historic “east” Jerusalem. The war ended just in time for the Israeli Jews to observe the Biblical Sabbath.

Israel’s King David in 1017 BCE purchased the most holiest piece of land in Jerusalem,the Site for G-d’s Altar,located on Mount Moriah,known today as the Temple Mount. The king paid one-and-a-quarter pounds of silver shekels to buy the Site,a threshing floor,from Aravnah the Y’vusi (Jebusite) in order to sacrifice to the L-rd there to stop a Divine plague that broke out among his people (Sh’mu’el Bet/2nd Samuel 24:17-25). The Site has hosted Israel’s ancient First and Second Temples,and is destined to host Israel’s forthcoming Third Temple.
The Islamic Waqf currently has de facto control over the Site. Jews,on the other hand,are restricted to worshiping at an open-air synagogue abutting remnants of the retaining wall of the Second Temple Complex. In a monumental act of historical revisionism,the Waqf is working at breakneck speed to destroy ancient artifacts from the First and Second Temple Periods in order to cement Islam’s stronghold on Judaism’s holiest Site. Islam is vying for the highly symbolic Jerusalem because control over the City,and especially the Temple Mount,is a necessary precursor of the establishment of an Islamic new world order.
Here are a few fast facts on Jerusalem that all who call upon the G-d of Israel should remind our leaders of as the world applies pressure on Israel to “negotiate” away her Holy City:
JUDAISM’S TITLE ON JERUSALEM:
1) In addition to being the Capital of reconstituted Israel today,Jerusalem was the Capital of ancient Israel dating back to circa 1004 BCE.
2) Except for being forcibly barred from the City,Jews have maintained a continual presence in Jerusalem even under economic,social and religious duress due to occupation. There has been a sizeable Jewish presence in Jerusalem since the 9th Century and Jews have maintained a majority there since the 19th Century.
3) Jerusalem is the heart and soul of Judaism and is central to the Biblical Narrative.
4) Jerusalem and Zion Scriptural References appear 823 times in Hebrew and 161 times in Greek.
5) Jewish control of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount guarantees freedom of worship for all.
6) According to the Bible,which predates the Qur’an by more than 2000 years,the Word and Law of the G-d of Israel will go forth from this Eternal City when He Establishes the true New World Order at the culmination of the Redemptive Process.
ISLAM’S CLAIM TO JERUSALEM:
1) Muhammad never set foot in the City.
2) No sovereign Muslim state ever claimed Jerusalem as a capital.
3) Muslims turn their backs on the City when praying.
4) Excluding modern-day insertions,the Qur’an makes no mention of Jerusalem.
5) Jerusalem serves solely political purposes for Islam.
6) History demonstrates that Islamic control of the Temple Mount would permanently stifle freedom of worship for non-Muslims.
7) Islam’s control over this most internationally significant Holy Site will conclude with the establishment of an Islamic new world order.
The Bible tells us that Jerusalem will be the focus of an epic struggle between the forces of good and evil:
Zekharya/Zechariah 12:3 states:“On that day I will Make Yerushalayim a burdensome stone for all the peoples:all that burden themselves with it shall be grievously hurt:and all the peoples of the earth shall be gathered together against it.”
And we know that the struggle will end with G-d’s Chosen People,the Jews,as the victors:
Yo’el/Joel 4:16-17:“And the L-rd Roars out of Ziyyon,and Utters His Voice from Yerushalayim;and the heavens and the earth shake:but the L-rd will be a Shelter for His People,and a Stronghold for the Children of Yisra’el. So shall you know that I am the L-rd your G-d Dwelling in Ziyyon,My Holy mountain:then shall Yerushalayim be holy,and no strangers shall pass through her any more.”
Jerusalem is destined to become the focal point of the genuine New World Order after this epic struggle reaches its climax:
Zekharya/Zechariah 14:16-17:“And it shall come to pass,that every one that is left of all the nations who came against Yerushalayim,shall go up from year to year to worship the King,the L-rd of Hosts,and to keep the Feast of Booths. And whoever does not come up of all the families of the earth to Yerushalayim to worship the King,the L-rd of Hosts,upon them shall be no rain.”
America,the beacon of freedom and liberty,stands at a crossroad. She can take up the Obama prescription for manmade peace,which follows a long line of manufactured peace-making efforts that ended in abject failures,and which continues to be antithetical to the Biblical Narrative. On the other hand,she could rise to the occasion by strengthening the Jewish State in every respect at a time when those sworn to her destruction are vying for G-d’s Holy City.
As a Bible-based nation,Americans are under a Divine Directive to give the G-d of Israel no rest until He brings about His true New World Order with Jerusalem as His Dwelling Place. There are no grey areas in this decisive conflict. G-d has Dropped His Holy Plumb line amid the nations. America is being Pushed off the fence that she has been straddling. She must now decide which vision of a new world order that she will embrace:a humanistic vision,or G-d’s Vision.
The choice should be clear for all who yearn for genuine peace and security,and freedom and liberty for all peoples of the earth.
